AN INVITATION FROM THE CONFERENCE CHAIR (for ICNN '97) (Return to Home Page)

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 1997 International Conference on Neural Networks (ICNN '97).

The ICNN is organized every year under the guidance and sponsorship of the IEEE Neural Networks Council to bring together researchers practitioners, managers, and policy-makers interested in biological and computational neural networks.

I am particularly happy to announce that the International Neural Networks Society (INNS) decided last year to participate in the organization of the ICNN '97 as a Technical Sponsor.

The collaboration of these two major organizations and the combined talents of IEEE and INNS members make the ICNN '97 unique among the meetings that are directly or indirectly related to neural networks.

With neural networks gaining recognition as building blocks of complex systems and the new millennium approaching, we thought the most appropriate motto for the ICNN '97 would be:

Hybrid Neural Systems for the 21st Century

This year we received a surprisingly high number of papers from all over the world.

With the help of hundreds of colleagues who volunteered to serve as reviewers, the Technical Program Committee selected almost 500 high quality papers to be presented at the Conference.

We have also invited twelve plenary speakers, selected among the authorities of the field, who agreed to present their views, perspectives and expectations.

We planed three panel sessions to give the participants the opportunity for stimulating discussions and exchange of ideas.

We also planned six tutorials for the participants willing to learn more from experts in cutting-edge areas of neural network research.

Our exhibits are scheduled to bring the participants closer to colleagues from the industry and open a window to the activity in the market place.

A conference does not materialize until the participants are coming together to exchange ideas, present their approaches and talk about their accomplishments and hopes.

Your presence will make the ICNN '97 part of neural networks history.

Our meeting place is an impressive shopping and entertainment complex in Houston.

Such a place will certainly make your stay in Houston a memorable experience, even after the end of the sessions.

If you don't enjoy shopping, you may enhance your skills in ice-skating.

If ice-skating is not your sport, you can participate in the exciting tours we plan for the participants and their spouses.

We look forward to seeing you at the Conference.
